{"id":15,"date":"2008-08-21T18:45:48","date_gmt":"2008-08-21T18:45:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/returningking.com\/?p=15"},"modified":"2008-08-21T18:45:48","modified_gmt":"2008-08-21T18:45:48","slug":"the-rapture-the-process","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/returningking.com\/?p=15","title":{"rendered":"The Rapture (the process)"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"seriesmeta\">This entry is part 3 of 6 in the series <a href=\"http:\/\/returningking.com\/?series=rapture\" class=\"series-211\" title=\"rapture\">rapture<\/a><\/div><h2 style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><em><span style=\"font-size: large; font-family: Cambria;\">The Process<\/span><\/em><\/h2>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 6pt 0in 15pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;\">The process of the rapture is actually well catalogued in scripture as well.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>As with all things, here, too, the Lord is a God of great order and well placed step.<!--more--><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt 0.5in;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 (NIV)<\/span><strong><em><sup><span style=\"font-size: 8pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 10.0pt;\">13<\/span><\/sup><\/em><\/strong><em><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">\u00a0Brothers, we do not want you to be ignorant about those who fall asleep, or to grieve like the rest of men, who have no hope. <\/span><\/em><strong><em><sup><span style=\"font-size: 8pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 10.0pt;\">14<\/span><\/sup><\/em><\/strong><em><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">\u00a0We believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. <\/span><\/em><strong><em><sup><span style=\"font-size: 8pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 10.0pt;\">15<\/span><\/sup><\/em><\/strong><em><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">\u00a0According to the Lord&#8217;s own word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. <\/span><\/em><strong><em><sup><span style=\"font-size: 8pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 10.0pt;\">16<\/span><\/sup><\/em><\/strong><em><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">\u00a0For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. <\/span><\/em><strong><em><sup><span style=\"font-size: 8pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 10.0pt;\">17<\/span><\/sup><\/em><\/strong><em><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">\u00a0After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. <\/span><\/em><strong><em><sup><span style=\"font-size: 8pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 10.0pt;\">18<\/span><\/sup><\/em><\/strong><em><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">\u00a0Therefore encourage each other with these words. <\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 6pt 0in 15pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;\">To begin this orderly process, a shout followed by the command of an angel is given:<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-indent: 0.5in; line-height: 150%;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"><em><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; line-height: 150%;\">For the Lord himself will come down from heaven<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> <\/span><em><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; line-height: 150%;\">with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel\u2026.<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 6pt 0in 15pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Some have noted difficulty understanding why the Lord would respond to the command of an archangel.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>However it is not entirely necessary that the angel is he who grants the command, only that a command is <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">given<\/em> &#8220;with the voice&#8221; of an archangel.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Angels are creatures of order as well, each with a rank and responsibilities.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>They are not called the hosts of Heaven without reason.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>They follow orders.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Even to grant a command would be done in response to an order; the order of the Father that the time has come for the rapture event to take place.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Thus, this order is given <\/span><em><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">with the trumpet call of God<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-size: small;\">.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 6pt 0in 15pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;\">Trumpets were used for a call to battle or for worship summons.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>The rapture begins with a similar summons from God, followed by the command shouted from the archangel, followed by the invocation of the rapture event.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 6pt 0in 15pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">The process of the rapture is one of order as well.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>All saints are not raptured simultaneously, but each in their turn, beginning with the dead in Christ; <\/span><em><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">and the dead in Christ will rise first.<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 6pt 0in 15pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Prior to the living, the dead will resurrect and rise to meet Christ.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>It should be noted for those of unclear understanding that this speaks of a physical resurrection for the dead in Christ.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>The spirits of the dead will return with Christ from Heaven to meet up with their bodies, as referenced in v.14: <\/span><em><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">. <\/span><\/em><strong><em><sup><span style=\"font-size: 8pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 10.0pt;\">14<\/span><\/sup><\/em><\/strong><em><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">\u00a0We believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Thus the spirit is rejoined with the body of those dead in Christ.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>What a fascinating observation it will be to see how exactly the Lord will reconstitute the bodies of those who have been dead for thousands of years!<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 6pt 0in 15pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;\">The term \u201cin Christ\u201d in this text limits the resurrection to those who have the Holy Spirit , the church. <span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0<\/span>&#8220;In Christ&#8221; is a uniquely New Testament post-conversion term indicating the indwelling Christ through the Holy Spirit.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Those which have not received the Holy Spirit are not thus &#8220;in Christ&#8221; as are the New Testament saints, or the church.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Thus it should now be noted that the Old Testament saints are not a part of the rapture process, but will be raised at a later time (to be discussed later in this work).<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 6pt 0in 15pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Verse 17 then notes, <\/span><em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">&#8220;After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.&#8221;<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 6pt 0in 15pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Some see the phrase \u201cwe who are still alive and are left\u201d as evidence of a post-tribulational rapture.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>They understand \u201cstill alive\u201d to refer to those which Antichrist has not killed during the tribulation.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>While that position does appear plausible in this text, nothing is indicative of the tribulation.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><em><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">We who are still alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord <\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-size: small;\">refers to those who have <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">not<\/em> died, but continue to live until the Lord&#8217;s coming to rapture them.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>The Great Tribulation needs not be fulfilled for some to have died and others to be left living.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>The text is making a very general assertion; some will have died, and they will be taken first, others will still be living and will be taken thereafter.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: black; font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;,&quot;serif&quot;; mso-bidi-font-size: 10.0pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-font-kerning: 14.0pt; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA;\">The next phrase <\/span><em><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; color: black; font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;,&quot;serif&quot;; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-font-kerning: 14.0pt; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA;\">And so we will be with the Lord forever, <\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: black; font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;,&quot;serif&quot;; mso-bidi-font-size: 10.0pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-font-kerning: 14.0pt; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-language: EN-US;
