font-family: Cambria;\">Abaddon<\/span><\/a><\/h1>\n<h3 style=\"margin: 4pt 0in 0pt;\"><a name=\"_Toc205266667\"><\/a><a name=\"_Toc205200976\"><span style=\"mso-bookmark: _Toc205266667;\"><em><span style=\"font-size: large; font-family: Calibri;\">The term:<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/a><em><span style=\"font-size: large; font-family: Calibri;\"> <\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 6pt 0in 15pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;\">Abaddon is a Hebrew term, thus is constrained to the Old Testament, except for one occasion when the Hebrew term is referenced in the New Testament.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>It appears seven times in the bible.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Since it is used so sparingly, this section will be able to examine each use of the term.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 6pt 0in 15pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;\">Abaddon is translated &#8220;destruction&#8221; throughout the NIV and KJV, except for the Revelation passage, where Abaddon is rendered in its native Hebrew, for obvious reasons we&#8217;ll examine in this section.<!--more--><\/span><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"margin: 4pt 0in 0pt;\"><a name=\"_Toc205266668\"><\/a><a name=\"_Toc205200977\"><span style=\"mso-bookmark: _Toc205266668;\"><em><span style=\"font-size: large; font-family: Times New Roman;\">Hebrew poetic verse is based on parallelism rather than rhythm or rhyme.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt 1.5in; text-indent: -0.25in; font-family: Times New Roman;\">There are five poetic books in the Old Testament:<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Solomon<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt 1.5in; font-family: Times New Roman;\">Abbadon is referenced, interestingly, in three of the five, and in only one non-poetic book where it is rendered as a proper name of a demon.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt 1in; font-family: Times New Roman;\">To be paralleled in Hebrew poetry, an item is noted to be related and closely knit in nature to that which it is paralleled.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt 1.5in;
