{"id":336,"date":"2009-04-09T12:27:06","date_gmt":"2009-04-09T06:27:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.returningking.com\/?p=336"},"modified":"2009-04-09T12:27:06","modified_gmt":"2009-04-09T06:27:06","slug":"todays-apostasy-inventing-doctrine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/returningking.com\/?p=336","title":{"rendered":"Today&#8217;s Apostasy: Inventing Doctrine"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"seriesmeta\">This entry is part 20 of 23 in the series <a href=\"http:\/\/returningking.com\/?series=wolves\" class=\"series-218\" title=\"Wolves in Wool\">Wolves in Wool<\/a><\/div><p style=\"margin: 12pt 0in;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">(NOTE:\u00a0 This is a continuation of the Wolves in Wool Series.\u00a0 This post assumes the prerequisite reading of <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.returningking.com\/?series=73\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">earlier posts<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-size: small;\">)<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"MARGIN: 12pt 0in\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.returningking.com\/images\/horsesunsm.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"28\" height=\"40\" \/><\/span>Concerning today&#8217;s massive population of false teachers, scripture also offers several texts which warn us of the propensity of these teachers to teach outside of the Word of God.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>While these texts do not speak specifically about a <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.returningking.com\/?p=312\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">latter day apostasy<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-size: small;\">, they do speak volumes concerning the very nature of false teachers; namely, where their doctrines come from and why they are to be avoided. <!--more--><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 12pt 0in;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Peter, in speaking about the sufficiency and trustworthiness of the scriptures notes,<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNoSpacing\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 12pt 0.5in;\"><em><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><strong style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;\">2 Peter 1:16-18 (NIV) <\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>16 <\/sup>We did not follow cleverly invented stories when we told you about the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. <sup>17 <\/sup>For he received honor and glory from God the Father when the voice came to him from the Majestic Glory, saying, &#8220;This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.&#8221; <sup>18 <\/sup>We ourselves heard this voice that came from heaven when we were with him on the sacred mountain. <\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 12pt 0in;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Peter first asserts the nature of his own testimony concerning the Lord Jesus.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>He was an eyewitness of his majesty.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Peter, being an apostle of the Lord Christ, being with him on a daily basis during his earthly ministry, wrote <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">what he saw<\/em> with his own eyes concerning the work and ministry of Christ.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>He then establishes the framework for the admonition he will momentarily speak against false teachers as he notes, &#8220;we did not follow cleverly invented stories.&#8221;<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Indeed, Peter speaks what he saw in person, while in the presence of Christ.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>His testimony is further validated by James and John who were with him.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 12pt 0in;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">The event Peter speaks of is the transfiguration of Christ, found in Matthew 17 and Luke 9.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>On this particular day, these men had a supernatural experience, witnessing the transfiguration of Christ before their very eyes, and hearing the very words of God confirming that &#8220;this is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.&#8221;<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Indeed, such an experience could easily be taken on its own merit to have been a revelation from the Lord.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Yet, Peter does not relegate the validity of his testimony to his <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">experience<\/em> alone.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Personal observation, followed by the affirmation of other witnesses\u00a0was the test of his testimony.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 12pt 0in;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">He further notes,<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNoSpacing\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 12pt 0.5in;\"><em><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><strong style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;\">2 Peter 1:19-21 (NIV) <\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>19 <\/sup>And we have the word of the prophets made more certain, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. <sup>20 <\/sup>Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet&#8217;s own interpretation. <sup>21 <\/sup>For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. <\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 12pt 0in;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Peter states two important facts concerning his experience.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>First, he notes that &#8220;we have the word of the prophets made more certain.&#8221;<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>This is the third characteristic of Peter&#8217;s testimony.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Peter&#8217;s experience was validated by scripture.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>The prophets had noted the coming of the Messiah.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Peter&#8217;s mountaintop encounter served to affirm what he had already known from the prophets.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Secondly, he notes that &#8220;no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet&#8217;s own interpretation.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man\u2026.&#8221;<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Peter understood that his experience, validated by scripture, was legitimate precisely because of that fact.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 12pt 0in;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Peter&#8217;s testimony concerning the mount of transfiguration is the backdrop for the doctrine which he next proclaims.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Peter understood that there are men in all ages who would not accept the scriptures as the foundation of their experience and their doctrines.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>They would feel it necessary to embellish scripture, or to completely make up their own postulates concerning the truths of the faith.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>He continues his discourse,<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNoSpacing\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 12pt 0.5in;\"><em><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><strong style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;\">2 Peter 2:1-3 (NIV) <\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>1 <\/sup>But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them&#8211;bringing swift destruction on themselves. <sup>2 <\/sup>Many will follow their shameful ways and will bring the way of truth into disrepute. <sup>3 <\/sup>In their greed these teachers will exploit you with stories they have made up. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping. <\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 12pt 0in;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Peter articulates a warning to his readers that false prophets will exist among them.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>He stipulates the nature of their work very simply, &#8220;these teachers will exploit you with stories they have made up.&#8221;<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Unlike Peter&#8217;s own testimony, which was validated by scripture and eyewitnesses, the false teachers he warns of are those who simply &#8220;make up&#8221; their &#8220;stories.&#8221;<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>They will not have scripture as the basis of their doctrines.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>They will not have eyewitnesses who will validate their exceptional claims.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Such was Peter&#8217;s verification of that which he professed as truth.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 12pt 0in;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">From the time of the apostolic age, the burden of proof has greatly strengthened.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>The book of Revelation, written in roughly 90 AD, contains this warning to those who would presume to add or take away from God&#8217;s revelation in that book:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNoSpacing\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 12pt 0.5in;\"><em><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><strong style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;\">Revelation 22:18-19 (NIV) <\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>18 <\/sup>I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book. <sup>19 <\/sup>And if anyone takes words away from this book of prophecy, God will take away from him his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book. <\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 12pt 0in;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">The warning of this text was certainly regarding this particular book of Revelation.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>It does reaffirm, however, God&#8217;s attitude toward all of his written word.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>That God had given his word to reliable, tested prophets was no accident.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>He fully intended it to be protected and preserved, with the full warning of severe judgments to those who changed it.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Peter himself affirms the same principles concerning doctrine.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>He notes that those who &#8220;exploit you with stories they have made up&#8221; will experience &#8220;condemnation [which] has long been hanging over them.&#8221;<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Such warnings permeate scripture.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>It is not to be added to, changed, or taken away from.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>While Jesus&#8217; warning through John in Revelation may be relegated to the handling of that particular book, the scriptures as a whole repeat that warning to anyone who would dare twist them for alternative consumption.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>The Lord makes a similar warning to Israel concerning the Law of Moses:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNoSpacing\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 12pt 0.5in;\"><em><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><strong>Deuteronomy 4:2-4 (NIV) <br \/>\n<\/strong><sup>2 <\/sup>Do not add to what I command you and do not subtract from it, but keep the commands of the Lord your God that I give you. <sup>3 <\/sup>You saw with your own eyes what the Lord did at Baal Peor. The Lord your God destroyed from among you everyone who followed the Baal of Peor, <sup>4 <\/sup>but all of you who held fast to the Lord your God are still alive today.<strong> <\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 12pt 0in;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Likewise, in this warning, God noted a severe penalty for the addition to or subtraction from his given Word.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Indeed, scripture thoroughly affirms John&#8217;s testimony of punishment to those who change God&#8217;s word to be a condition applicable to the entirety of the Word.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Paul notes of the &#8220;false apostles&#8221; in 2 Corinthians 11, &#8220;their end will be what their actions deserve.&#8221;<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>He further notes in Galatians (a text which will be observed in the next post) that those who preach &#8220;another gospel&#8221; are to be &#8220;eternally condemned.&#8221;<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>He writes in 2 Timothy 3 that they are &#8220;men of depraved minds&#8221; who &#8220;as far as the faith is concerned, are rejected.&#8221;<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>And Peter continues his discourse concerning false teachers, noting,<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNoSpacing\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 12pt 0.5in;\"><em><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><strong>2 Peter 2:21 (NIV) <\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>21 <\/sup>It would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than to have known it and then to turn their backs on the sacred command that was passed on to them. <\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 12pt 0in;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">The prohibition against adding to or taking away from the Word of God pervades scripture.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>Thus, the very teachers which exploit the church with &#8220;stories they made up&#8221; are without excuse.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>They &#8220;have known the way of righteousness,&#8221; but have abandoned it for their own purposes.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 12pt 0in;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">This, once again, is the very definition of apostasy.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Such is our very day.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 12pt 0in;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Concerning the invention of doctrine, there is perhaps no group in history which have been as prolific at the occupation as the modern day Word of Faith movement.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 (For a more thorough investigation of this group, read <a href=\"http:\/\/www.returningking.com\/?series=73\">this whole series<\/a>.)\u00a0 <\/span>These men not only teach doctrines which are without prophetic reference <em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">or<\/em> eyewitness verification, they do so openly and without excuse.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Even in light of the completed canon of scripture these teachers find reasons to regularly make additions to God&#8217;s word via their self-proclaimed &#8220;revelation knowledge.&#8221;<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Joyce Meyer unashamedly admits,<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<h6><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; color: #243f60;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">&#8220;The Bible can&#8217;t even find any way to explain this. Not really. That&#8217;s why you&#8217;ve got to get it by revelation. There are no words to explain what I&#8217;m telling you. I&#8217;ve got to just trust God that He&#8217;s putting it into your spirit like He put it into mine.&#8221;<br \/>\nJoyce Meyer (What Happened from the Cross to The Throne? audio)<\/span><\/span><\/h6>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 12pt 0in;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">How does this relate to Peter&#8217;s assertion, &#8220;no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet&#8217;s own interpretation?&#8221;<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Rather, it fits quite nicely with his affirmation, &#8220;these teachers will exploit you with stories they have made up.&#8221;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 12pt 0in;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">How blessed our modern age must be that we have people like Joyce Meyer, who can hear &#8220;new teachings&#8221; from God and pass them on to her loyal &#8220;fans.&#8221;<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>It seems strange that God had a message for our very day which he somehow omitted from his Word.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Is God forgetful?<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Is he incapable of putting the entirety of the revelation of himself into his Word?<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>It is even stranger that the utterly self-sacrificial prophets, apostles and disciples of the early church were somehow deemed unworthy to receive such revelations, which were instead given to multi-millionaire, egotistical showmen whose lifestyles appear more like rock stars than Christ or the apostles.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Yet, WOF teachers regularly assert teachings which are supposedly gained from their ultra-spiritual &#8220;revelation&#8221; encounters with the Lord. <span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0<\/span>According to Peter, &#8220;their destruction has not been sleeping.&#8221;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 12pt 0in;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">As noted <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.returningking.com\/?p=67\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">earlier in this series<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">, Kenneth Copeland claims to have received his &#8220;born-again Jesus&#8221; false doctrine from supposed revelation knowledge as well.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Apparently there are certain doctrines which God chose only to disclose to Ken.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Luckily, for your best seed-gift, he will share them with you.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Creating a completely new add-on to fundamental Christology (the doctrine of Christ), he asserts,<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<h6><span style=\"color: #243f60;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0<\/span>&#8220;The Spirit of God spoke to me and He said, &#8220;Son, realize this. Now follow me in this and don&#8217;t let your tradition trip you up.&#8221; He said, &#8220;Think this way &#8212; a twice-born man whipped Satan in his own domain.&#8221; And I threw my Bible down&#8230; like that. I said, &#8220;What?&#8221; He said, &#8220;A born-again man defeated Satan, the firstborn of many brethren defeated him.&#8221; <br \/>\nKenneth Copeland (Substitution and Identification, tape #00-0202, side 2)<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/h6>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 12pt 0in;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">(I think Copeland had actually thrown his Bible down long before this supposed &#8220;revelation.&#8221;)<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>According to Ken, Jesus being &#8220;the firstborn of many brethren&#8221; means that he was the first &#8220;born again&#8221; man.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Interestingly, Paul, whom Copeland attempts to quote (thus giving alleged validity to his weird doctrine) did not say at all what Copeland notes.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Paul stated,<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNoSpacing\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 12pt 0.5in;\"><em><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><strong>Romans 8:29 (NIV) <\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>29 <\/sup>For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. <\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 12pt 0in;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">The &#8220;firstborn among many brothers&#8221; refers not to Christ, but to those God foreknew.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>The firstborn among many brothers refers to the future success of the gospel mission of the chosen believer- not the past-tense (at the time of Paul&#8217;s writing) supposed &#8220;rebirth&#8221; of Christ.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Add a bit of twisted scripture to an imaginary doctrine, and you could become a famous WOF preacher, too.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 12pt 0in;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">It doesn&#8217;t end there, of course.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Benny Hinn is perhaps the king of fantasized doctrines.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Not to be outdone, in a moment of debility while on stage, undoubtedly drunken by the worship of his fans, he spot-crafted the doctrine of the &#8220;nonity&#8221; (God as nine-in-one?).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<h6><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; color: #243f60;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">&#8220;Man, I feel revelation knowledge already coming on me here. Lift your hands. Something new is going to happen here today. I felt it just as I walked down here. Holy Spirit, take over in the name of Jesus&#8230;God the Father, ladies and gentlemen, is a person; and he is a triune being by himself separate from the Son and the Holy Ghost. Say, what did you say? Here it, hear it, hear it. See, God the Father is a person, God the Son is a person, God the Holy Ghost is a person. But each one of them is a triune being by Himself. If I can shock you &#8211; and maybe I should &#8211; there&#8217;s nine of them.\u2026<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>You say, Huh, I never heard that. It&#8217;s all in the Word&#8221;.<br \/>\nBenny Hinn (Praise The Lord, TBN October 3, 1990)<\/span><\/span><\/h6>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 12pt 0in;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Indeed, the making up of doctrine should be listed as a fundamental tenet of the WOF doctrine, for you cannot be WOF unless you adhere to such unbiblical fairy tale wonders.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Scripture had these men and women pegged two thousand years ago.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>How foolish is he who takes the word of Benny Hinn, Copeland, Meyer and the growing number of cult leaders who have touted the whimsy doctrines of the WOF over the words of Jesus, Matthew, Peter, and Paul.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>These true prophets lived in poverty and selflessness.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>They were abused, beaten and ultimately killed for their faith.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>They never had mansions, maid services, Armani suits and certainly would not have had half-billion dollar jets, had they been available.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>They gave their lives for a real truth, paying the ultimate price while today&#8217;s false teacher prostitutes himself to Satan for the luxuries of this ever-so-short life.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNoSpacing\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 12pt 0.5in;\"><em><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><strong>2 Corinthians 11:13-15 (NIV) <\/strong><br \/>\n<sup>13 <\/sup>For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, masquerading as apostles of Christ. <sup>14 <\/sup>And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. <sup>15 <\/sup>It is not surprising, then, if his servants masquerade as servants of righteousness.
